The standard seat pitch (distance from the head rest of one seat to the head rest behind it, aka legroom) is 31 inches.

In America, Jet Blue provides the most legroom, with 33 inches, followed by Virgin America and Southwest, which offer 32 inches. Spirit and Frontier are the worst American carriers for legroom, squishing their passengers into 28 inches.

The international airlines with the most legroom are Aeromexico (34 inches), South African Airways (33.5 inches) and Asiana (33 inches), while those that offer the least are Air Berlin, Austrian Airlines and Aeroflot at 30 inches.

In the UK, budget airline Easyjet offers passengers a minimum seat pitch of 29 inches, while Ryanair gives 30 inches of legroom. British Airways' economy seat pitch is between 31 and 34 inches.
