Villa Epecuen was once a popular Argentinian spa town and resort on the shores of a salt lake south of Buenos Aires.
But when the town was badly flooded in 1985, all its buildings were under around 22ft of salt water. The heavy rains caused the lake to overflow and water surged through the retaining wall built to protect the town, forcing residents and tourists to evacuate and never return.
