After three days, it was determined there were "no longer any signs of life".

But owner Charlie Griffith never gave up hope, and was joined by friends and the NSW RSPCA in the continued search and rescue effort. The 100-strong group used shovels, torches and their bare hands to rescue the three-year-old beloved pet.

Footage of the rescue is now going viral, and, according to the Daily Telegraph, Amanda Fleith, who captured the emotional reunion on camera, said: "At 3pm on Friday afternoon the "offical" search was called off, but that didn't stop the community of Nowra to pull together and work as a team to get Brooklyn out.

"At 10.30pm on Friday night thanks to the hard work of all the boys that dug and the people that supplied equipment and to the RSPCA we were all able to experience this beautiful moment."

Speaking to 9News, Charlie said: "Thanks heaps! Tremendous effort. Like I can't believe it."

Brooklyn is believed to be recovering well.
