Birmingham shooting victim named as Derek Junior Myers, 25

A 25-year-old man who was fatally injured in a city shooting has been named by police.

Derek Junior Myers, from Birmingham, died after the incident in Soho Hill in the Hockley area of the city on Friday October 30.

Another man was also injured in the shooting and remains in a critical condition in hospital, according to West Midlands Police.

Officers said a second man was arrested on Thursday in connection with the inquiry but they are continuing to appeal to the public for information about exactly what happened.

It follows the arrest of a man who was detained last week

Both have since been released on bail.

Detective Chief Inspector Caroline Marsh, who is leading the investigation, said: "We have a team of detectives working on this case to identify those who were involved.

"A man has lost his life and another remains critical in hospital and we would continue to appeal for anyone with information to come forward and contact us.

"If you were there or have been told anything about what happened, please get in touch."
