One of the world's biggest pop stars is being sued for ripping of lyrics from another artist.

Taylor Swift is being sued by little know R&B singer Jesse Graham for a staggering $42 million for allegedly stealing the lyrics to one of his songs and using them in her smash hit 'Shake it Off'.

Graham claims the celebrity stole the lyrics 'haters gonna hate' and 'players gonna play' from a song he wrote in 2013, entitled, 'Haters Gone Hate'.

However, this seems slightly unlikely especially given that Buzz60 have revealed that that particular song has only had 92 plays on his MySpace page.

Graham says that if he'd never written this song then Swift would've never been able to write 'Shake it Off'.

The singer, songwriter claims he reached out to Taylor's people asking for compensation, a writing credit and a selfie with her. However he wasn't in luck as they responded with a no, so he in turn filed a lawsuit.

But, even if the R&B star is successful in his lawsuit, it's unlikely to affect Swift who has reportedly earned $1 million each day this year and is the richest celebrity under 25.

Swift's hit album '1989' was released in January and sold a whopping 1.287 million copies in the first week which was more than the next 100 albums collectively that week.

Her world tour is also likely to have helped her out in the earnings stakes. The superstar, who has brought on a host of celebrity guests to sing with her, sold $173 million worth of tickets for the 59 concerts she has played.
