David Cameron picture removed from No 10 Facebook page over fake poppy

A picture of Prime Minister David Cameron has been taken down from the official 10 Downing Street Facebook page after it emerged that a poppy had been digitally added to his jacket.

The fake flower was spotted by Dylan Morris, of Plymouth, whose tweet questioning whether the remembrance symbol was genuine was quickly shared by hundreds of other social media users.

A second photo tweeted by Mr Morris shortly afterwards appeared to offer proof that the picture had been doctored. The older snap showed Mr Cameron in an identical location and pose, but without the distinctive red flower.

Moments later, the profile picture disappeared from the Downing Street page to be replaced by another photograph, showing Mr Cameron sporting a real poppy. A Downing Street spokeswoman said: "It was an oversight."
