Michael Jackson is highest earning dead celebrity

You might think that earning stops when life does, but that's not the case for everyone. There are plenty of celebrities and public figures who carry on making money years after they've passed away.

Whether it's through re-released music albums, memorabilia or branding, there are plenty of celebs who are still making far more than you each year, even though they're no longer alive.

Forbes has compiled this year's list of the highest earning dead celebrities and although it may not be surprising to see which names are on the list, the amount they are cashing in on a yearly basis is sure to stun.

Did you know, for example, that reggae legend Bob Marley earned himself $21 million last year, despite the fact he died way back in 1981? That's all thanks to the brands who have adopted Marley's image since then including House of Marley and The Marley Beverage Company.

Similarly, pin-up beauty Bettie Page, who died in 2008, took $10 million to the bank this year thanks to clothing ranges inspired by her iconic style.
