A lottery millionaire has missed out on their chance to claim a £1 million prize and a private yacht getaway. The winner bought their ticket in Reading back in April, and scooped UK Millionaire Maker prize. However, they failed to claim it by the deadline, so the money has been lost and the yacht cancelled.

Everyone who plays the UK version of EuroMillions is automatically entered into the Millionaire Maker prize draw - with a single prize of £1 million. You get a Millionaire Maker code for every line you play on the EuroMillions. This is printed on your ticket.

It means that after checking your Euromillions numbers against the main draw, you should check your Millionaire codes. It seems the winner in this case failed to do so.

After any draw you have 180 days to claim your prize, and after that time the money goes to the National Lottery good causes.

If you bought a ticket in Reading in April and haven't checked your code, it's probably best not to, as if your code is TRR092858, you will discover you've blown your chance to be a millionaire.

Missed prizes

You won't be the first. Around £75 million in prizes goes unclaimed every year. Perhaps the most incredible was back in 2012, when a lottery winner failed to check their Euromillions ticket for 8 June, and in December their prize was donated to good causes. In this case they missed out on an astonishing £63.8 million.

You won't be the last either. At the moment there are a number of life changing sums that have been won, and yet remain unclaimed. There are a couple of Millionaire Maker winners yet to come forward. One is from a draw on 10th July - which needs to be claimed by 6th January. It was bought in Hull and the winning code is VCY513088.

The other million is from a draw on 31st July, which expires on 10th March next year. It's a £1 million jackpot plus a trip to New York, and the winning ticket was bought in Cheltenham.

The biggest outstanding win is from a draw on September 12th, with a prize of £4,668,787. The winning ticket was bought in Barking and Dagenham, and the winning numbers are 14, 20, 28, 31, 40, 46, and a bonus ball of 44.
