Man Has Surprising Reaction After Winning $500K Lottery Prize

An American man was lucky enough to win $500,000 after taxes in the Virginia Lottery, but surprisingly, he didn't seem too happy about the windfall.

Manassie Vaughan matched all six numbers in the October 3rd drawing of the Virginia Lottery to win $500,000.

But when News Channel 3 asked him how he felt about winning the jackpot, his response was rather surprising.

Vaughan said: "When you've made a lot of money over the years running a business, half a million dollars doesn't move the needle that much."

Given his response, it's fair to say the businessman must have made quite a success of himself over the years!

The winning ticket was bought at M&T Market in Hampton and thanks to US lottery rules, the shop received a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

Even though he didn't seem over the moon at winning, Vaughan was clearly a little gobsmacked at having won the prize.

According to Daily Press, he told lottery officials: "I looked at the numbers and said, 'This can't be right,' I was surprised!"

Thanks to changes in the UK National Lottery, our chances of winning this side of the pond are getting increasingly unlikely.

Camelot have introduced more numbers for people to choose from which means your chances of snatching the jackpot have dramatically dropped.

Now the odds of winning at all have gone from 14 million to one to 45 million to one.
