A powerful young leopard snuck into the Indian town of Amravati and terrorised the locals, including officers of the military.

The footage shows the large cat stalking the balcony of a house before slipping on the tiles as it tries to make its way inside.

The leopard is then seen scaling a wall and hopping over into the neighbour's yard while trying to avoid capture.

At one point, two men are seen dashing into a building, shutting the door moments before the leopard throws himself at it.

Eventually, the Indian Wildlife Department shot the big cat with some tranquilizer darts and carted him off in a cage.

According to National Geographic, the leopard population outside of Africa is endangered.

The speed and agility of the leopard in this film is awe-inspiring.

Just last week, Indian leopard was found with its head stuck in a metal jar in the state of Rajasthan.

It took locals and officials six hours to tranquilise and free the poor animal from his metal prison, the BBC reports.

It's thought the confused leopard had been looking for water when his head became lodged in the jar.
