What happens when man wakes sleeping otter (video)

This beautiful otter looked like he was having the world's best sleep - until a rather inconsiderate man decided to unceremoniously wake him up.

The otter can be seen blissfully floating along on its back feeling the warmth of the sun on his front, until the tourist pokes him in the belly, and the poor creature gets the shock of a lifetime.

No, we wouldn't like to be woken up like this either.

The video was uploaded to Imgur, where most of the comments question the man's actions, with one writing simply: "But why would you do that?"

Another said: "As someone who hates being suddenly woken up from a nap, f*** that guy."

While another user wrote: "...Later on in bed, otter jumps on his bed and pokes him in the face..."

One seriously annoyed user commented: "I hope this ass of a tourist dropped his phone in the lake. The otter would then find said phone and fill his Facebook with otter d*** picks."

And one just joked: "Did that guy just poke me? Why I Otter...."

There are 13 species of otter, with the Oriental small-clawed otter being the smallest otter species and the giant otter and sea otter being the largest, growing up to 6ft in length.

For most otters, fish is the staple of their diet. This is often supplemented by frogs, crayfish and crabs. Some otters are expert at opening shellfish, and others will feed on available small mammals or birds.

And perhaps the new dish of the day should be annoying human fingers...
