One of Britain's leading supermarkets has made the decision to stop selling nearly all Carlsberg products.

Tesco will only be selling the popular Danish beer in four-packs at 200 of its stores countrywide in its latest bid to remove big-name brands from its shelves.

The supermarket giant has already culled a number of other popular products, including Ribena and Kingsmill, Metro reports.

Tesco boss Dave Lewis brought in the changes in an effort to cut prices throughout the store, hoping to boost the company profits.

The supermarket previously stocked around 90,000 different products, however plans to cut numbers will see a range of 65,000 to 70,000 products on their shelves, the Evening Standard reports.

According to the Journal Telegraph, Carlsberg nets Tesco around £60 million a year in sales, but that hasn't stopped it becoming the latest big brand name to be removed.

A Tesco spokesman said: "We have taken the decision to discontinue a number of Carlsberg products in our stores and online.

"We will continue to offer customers a great range of beers, lagers and ciders.

"Colleagues in store will be on hand to offer assistance and suggest alternatives should customers find a product they used to buy is no longer available."
