Man to face trial on terrorism charges

A man is due to stand trial today accused of terror offences.

Yahya Rashid was 19 when he was arrested at Luton Airport in April having arrived there from Istanbul.

Rashid, of Willesden in north west London, is charged with engaging in conduct in preparation for committing an act of terrorism, and engaging in conduct with the intention of assisting others to commit acts of terrorism, between November 1 2014 and March 31 2015.

He was arrested by officers from the Metropolitan Police Service counter terrorism command.

His trial is listed to begin at Woolwich Crown Court in south east London.
