There are certain things that we know we'll never get for free - like a free lunch, the chance to watch Premiership football for nothing, and a free bag from a supermarket that will last all the way to the end of the road before falling apart.

This week, however, there's a new world order, because we have all these things for free - plus free motoring workshops and a free £5 Argos voucher.

Free bag for life
In England, from Monday 5th October, you'll have to pay 5p if you want a one-use carrier bag from a supermarket or any other large shop. From that point onwards, it will make even more sense to take reusable bags with you when you go shopping.

If you want to stock up on these, you should pop into Tesco before Monday, because they are giving away free 'bags for life' to all shoppers. As usual, when these get damaged over time, you can take them back to Tesco and they will be replaced free of charge.

Free £5 voucher from Argos
The users of playpennies.com have discovered that Argos is currently running a toy exchange to help raise money for Barnardos. The idea is that you take in an unwanted toy (which will be sold in the charity shops), and in return they'll give you a £5 voucher to spend in Argos. You'll need to spend at least £35 in order to use the voucher, but in the run-up to the festive season that shouldn't be hard.

Free winter motor workshop for women
The users of HotUKdeals.com have discovered that Halfords is offering a free workshop for women during October, to help them take care of their car during the winter months. They can learn everything from how to check the oil and lights to how to keep the car running in the winter. You can book your free place here, and you'll get a free screen wash top-up as part of the deal.

Free toddler meal
If you have a child aged between 1 and 3, you can get your hands on a free Little Dish toddler meal worth £2.50. Just go to the website, fill in your details, and you'll get access to a voucher. This will need to be printed off and redeemed in any branch of Tesco, Asda, Co-Op or Waitrose.

The offer is supposed to run until 14 October, but there are a limited number available, so it's worth going sooner rather than later. Meals include everything from shepherd's pie to meatballs and chicken curry with rice.

Free Sky Sports for a day
If you like watching sport, you like Pringles, and you have good enough broadband for streaming programmes, this is a great deal. If you buy two tubes of Pringles from Tesco, you can get free sky sports for a day (usually £6.99).

You'll need to buy two packs (at £2.48 each) - make sure they are the right promotional packs with the deal printed on the outside. You can then enter the codes inside the tube on the website, and you'll have a digital voucher emailed to you. When you are ready to activate the pass (which should only be done on the day you wan to access Sky Sports) you need to create a Now TV Account, and click the 'apply now' button.
