Britain is set to bask in a balmy three-week Indian Summer with temperatures reaching a warm 25C.

After the effects of Storm Henri bought heavy rain, flooding and gales to the UK, we're now set to enjoy a late summer, say forecasters.

And, apparently, this balmy weather could last until the second half of October.

Jim Dale at the British Weather Services, said: "Just when you were crying into your soup over the summer that wasn't, it's all change with a much hoped for Indian Summer about to engage with the UK.

"Starting this weekend and lasting for the best part of the following 10 days and likely more, virtually all parts of the UK can expect an extended run of fine, dry, sunny and warmer than seasonal average weather.

"Air temperatures during this period will peak in the high teens, low twenties – with the mercury set to rise even further to 23C to 25C in parts as we move towards month's end. Yes some misty, dewy mornings to have contend with, but that's a small price to pay for what should be some fabulous days to come."

Met Office forecaster Alex Burkill told the Mirror: "From the weekend until the second half of October, high pressure is forecast to dominate, with prolonged sunny and dry periods."

And, according to the Daily Mail, Burkill added: "Highs could be in the low 20s next weekend in the south east, which is above average, and the start of October will feel pleasant for the time of year and could touch 20C. There will be nice, sunny spells, for sure.'

Break out the bubbles (and the BBQ!).
