Skinny jeans protected me from muggers

It turns out that the fashion for ultra-skinny jeans for men is good for something after-all. German Sent, an Architect from New York, was wearing painted-on jeans when he was walking home in the early hours of the morning. He was approached by three muggers, who demanded he handed over his wallet and mobile phone. Sent refused to comply, which is when his jeans saved the day.

Sent foiled the muggers in Brooklyn, New York, because when the three men tried to take his new iPhone 6 and wallet by force, they discovered that his jeans were too tight for them to squeeze the items out of his pockets.

Sent told the New York Post: "They couldn't even get a finger in my pocket. They were just arguing amongst themselves." Eventually they gave up and ran off. Sent admitted: "It was kind of hilarious and scary at the same time."

It's not the first time that muggers have been stopped in a surprising way. Back in April this year, a 92-year-old woman in Swindon saw her friend being mugged, so she shouted, "Oh no you don't" and ran into him on her mobility scooter. She knocked him to the ground and the two pensioners sped off.

Back in 2012, a mugger in Cambridge thought he had found an easy target in an 84-year-old man on his way home from Tesco. However, what he didn't know was that the octogenarian was a former professional boxer, and despite the fact that the mugger had a knife, the retired fighter floored him with a single punch on the nose.

Perhaps the most unexpected fightback was in Germany in 2007, when a mugger spotted a blind man with a packet of cigarettes, and thought he'd found easy prey. However, his victim was in fact a world-class blind judo expert, and after the mugger threw a punch, he was able to flip him and hold him down until police arrived.
