American family move to Coventry to be near their favourite pub

A couple from Indiana are quitting their life in America to move more than 4,000 miles away near their favourite pub in Warwickshire.

After making an annual trip to England to visit The Plough, Matt and Delores Lawrence, from Bloomington, have decided to make a permanent move to Britain.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Delores, 48, said: "We fell in love with the Plough, it's everything an English pub should be.

"There was just something about it that made us want to keep coming back and it made us realise this is the kind of lifestyle that we want."

Delores has quit her job as a psychiatric nurse, while Matt is transferring to a British branch of his loss adjuster firm.

According to the Express, the couple are putting their American house up for sale and will rent a home in Shustoke before buying.

Their 19-year-old son Achilles has applied to study at Coventry University.

Delores added that the family have no relatives in the UK but "everyone is so friendly".

This week, a dedicated mum completed Britain's longest pub crawl after drinking in every Red Lion in the UK.

Cathy Price, 56, spent almost five years trekking across the country, visiting all of the 656 taverns with the most common name in Britain. The personal trainer travelled a staggering 90,000 miles to cross off each of the pubs on her incredibly long list.

Her ambitious hunt set her back more than £16,000 but she said it has been "an amazing experience" and has "no regrets".
