Customers Will Soon Be Able To Take A Selfie To Make Credit Card Payments

These days you can do just about anything with your mobile phone. You can order food, surf the web, download apps and now you can even pay with it.

No, we're not talking about contactless payment, we're talking about being able to pay with your face... well, with a picture of your face.

MasterCard has come up with a novel way or paying for items while you're out and about - all you have to do is snap a selfie.

Once you're ready to pay at the till, MasterCard will send you a notification to take a photo and confirm your identity.

As an added security measure, the company says the customer will have to blink as the photo is taken. It's hoped this will stop anyone being able to trick the system.

One woman speaking to News Fix said: "Having to pull out your camera and take a picture, I just see people forgetting. It's a cool concept but I don't see it being practical every day."

But it's not likely this will be happening anytime soon as the app is still being worked on and so far there's no release date.
