A Victoria's Secret supermodel is reportedly in a critical condition after a jet surfing accident in Italy.

Yfke Sturm, 33, is in hospital after falling off a motorised jet surf board while on holiday in Ischia, reports the Mirror.

According to the Daily Telegraph, she fractured her skull and a number of her vertebrae, leaving her at risk of paralysis.

The model recently gave birth to her first child, a son called Alexander.

A spokesman for Next Model Management told the Independent: "We were shocked to hear about this terrible accident and our thoughts and prayers are with Yfke and her family at this time for her speedy recovery."

Yfke was just 15 when she won the 1997 International Elite Model Look Contest.

She has also hosted Holland's Next Top Model.

As well as being a model and presenter, Yfke is an ambassador for the Dutch Red Cross Foundation and also runs her own charity, Yfke 4 Kids, helping children who have been affected by Aids.
