A woman has told how she felt completely "violated" after discovering a hidden camera in the shower of her Travelodge hotel room.

Harmony Hachey, 23, had travelled to Oxford from Edinburgh for a work event, and was taking a shower when she noticed something in the vent.

She realised it was a camera and immediately informed reception staff at the Oxford Wheatley Travelodge, who confirmed she was right.

Speaking to the Scotsman she said she was "disgusted", adding: "It was the first thing I noticed. I was trying to convince myself that I was crazy and it wasn't really there. I had my shower and I just carried on as usual convincing myself I was crazy. I was going through scenarios in my head.

"I got a fork and stuck it in the vent. You could see so clearly it was a camera. I broke down at one point. I just felt so violated."

Harmony gave a statement to Thames Valley Police, who, according to the Mirror, said: "We can confirm that we did receive a report of a webcam being found in a hotel room at Travelodge, Wheatley on Friday night.

"A camera has been recovered for examination. An investigation is ongoing."

A Travelodge spokesperson also confirmed a camera had been found.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, she said: "The privacy of our customers is a matter of the highest importance to us and the hotel team investigated immediately.

"While the camera appeared to be inoperative, we have reported this matter to the police and we are now supporting them fully with their ongoing investigations.

"We would like to offer our sincere apologies to the customer affected and will remain in contact with them to ensure the matter is resolved."
