A woman using a portaloo at a Cornish festival got the shock of her life when she suddenly realised she was being transported through the air on a forklift truck.

The woman, who was uninjured but no doubt terrified, went to use the toilet ahead of the Newlyn Fish Festival in Cornwall, when she was unwittingly carried while inside the cabin from one side of the harbour to the other.

Harbourmaster Rob Parsons told BBC Radio Cornwall that she probably thought she'd been "teleported", saying: "She got in the loo and then it was picked up and taken to the other side of the harbour with her in it.

"I think she was suffering from a bit of shock or she thought she had teleported across to the other side of the harbour."

According to the Cornishman, Mark Kempthorne, director of Andyloos, which provided the portable toilets, told the radio programme it was an easy mistake to make because forklift drivers "go in through the back entrance" to pick them up.

He said on this occasion it was not a member of his team, but added: "It does happen quite a bit, to be honest – I've done it a few times."
