Clarkson splashes out on £259,000 supercar after Amazon deal
Jeremy Clarkson has reportedly celebrated his recent signing with Amazon Prime by splashing out on a £259,000 McLaren 675LT.
The former Top Gear presenter - who was dismissed after he punched a producer working on the show - recently took delivery of the Woking supercar that has a top speed of 205mph and can go from 0-62mph in 2.9 seconds.
Amazon recently secured Clarkson, along with co-presenters Richard Hammond and James May, for an all-new motoring show hosted on their Amazon Prime internet streaming service. It is rumoured that the entertainment giant is committing £160million over three years on the new series, with each presenter netting £6million each.
It is reported that the new series of the show is due to launch next year, though no official name has yet been released.
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos told the The Daily Telegraph that is had been "very, very expensive" to acquire the three presenters.
However, with even the final episode of Top Gear drawing in 5.3 million viewers, the cost to Amazon may be worth it. Top Gear viewing figures have topped 7 million, with Amazon looking to achieve this through their online streaming service, too.
Relaxing with a glass of wine and a cigarette whilst the car was delivered, Clarkson appeared to have put his BBC troubles behind him.
However, it is not yet known whether or not the McLaren was delivered as a personal purchase or for review purchases, though it was later seen driving up to his home in central London.
