Things to do in Cornwall when it rains
Cornwall is the most popular in the country for a 'staycation' - the beautiful sandy beaches, surf and rambling countryside is irresistible - but it means that every time it rains there are thousands upon thousands of holidaymakers wondering what on earth to do.
But there's no need to despair! Here are just a few of our favourite activities to be enjoyed in Cornwall in the rain.

1. Have a look around the St Austell brewery
Learn more about the beer making process first hand at the brewery of one of Cornwall's most famous exports. Take some time out of the wet weather to enjoy a 90 minute tour which will give you an insight not only into the brewing process but the unique history of the St Austell beers. The Cornish brewery was founded in 1851 and is best known for its flagship beer, Tribute Ale. Tour prices range from £7 - £10 and booking is advisable thanks to the tour's popularity. You're best off visiting Sunday - Thursday as Fridays and Saturdays aren't brewing days, so there will be less activity in the brewery.

2. Take a tour of the stunning Port Eliot House
With 11 staircases, 15 back doors and 82 chimneys, Port Eliot isn't a lot like other houses. Thought to be one of the oldest continually inhabited houses in the UK, Port Eliot house has been lived in for more than 1000 years. Guided tours of the impressive house are included in the general admission price and the tea rooms are open during summer months, giving visitors the perfect opportunity to take the weight of their feet and enjoy the homemade food.

3. Get close to nature at Falmouth Aquarium
Found in a four-storey town house in the middle of Falmouth, the aquarium may not be exactly where you would expect but it's location add to the charm of the area. The aquarium's main focus is conservation which is fitting given the amazing biodiversity of the Falmouth coast.

4. Host the Jolly Roger at Pirate's Quest
Visiting Cornwall with kids? Taking a trip to Pirate's Quest is a great way to fill a rain-drenched afternoon. The attraction will throw you 300 years back in time, to the golden age of piracy. You'll have the chance to enjoy a swashbuckling, hour long tour presented by a pirate crew. You'll be immersed in the fascinating legends and history of piracy through the years as you experience the sights, sounds and smells of life on the sea.

5. Watch the storm roll in at No.1 Rock Road
There's nothing better than being tucked up indoors as a storm breaks outside. Head to No.1 Rock Road to get your hands on a mug of something warm before you tuck into some excellent local delicacies. Open all day, No.1 is a great option for those looking to enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner with a fantastic view across the Rock Estuary.
