BMW reveals CLS Hommage R Concept in iconic livery
This incredible-looking car is BMW's CSL Hommage R Concept, complete with BMW's motorsport livery.
Released at the Pebble Beach premium motor show, the Hommage R Concept is a celebration of both the 40th anniversary of BMW in North America and the success of the BMW 3.0 CSL in 1975. This was the year that the 3.0 CSL won the IMSA manufacturers' championship at its very first attempt.
The paintwork on the car has been designed to mimic that of the original 1975 car, and even features that original car's racing number, 25.
The tribute goes as far as the "Bavarian Motor Works" decals on the windscreen and rear window of the car, along with the 21-inch alloy wheels with black inlays.
The Hommage R Concept features a stretched body frame, with wide wheel arches and a large spoiler at the rear. The car is fully designed for racing, featuring a helmet for the driver that displays crucial information in the visor.
This means that the driver can check the car's speed, engine revs and the selected gear without having to take their eyes away from the road. Every aspect of the Hommage R is designed around the driver.
Using state-of-the-art technology, the Hommage R has been designed to the very last detail, including the driver's suit.
This, designed by Puma, features illuminated piping along the sleeves that shows the progress of information travelling from the steering column up to the driver's helmet. This occurs when the driver's hands are on the steering wheel.
