Two British men thrown off Ibiza flight after 'shoving passengers'

Two men from Birmingham were removed from a Jet2 flight to Ibiza and barred from using the airline for six months after their "rude and aggressive" behaviour.

Joseph Kings and Reiss Edgerton were part of a group travelling from East Midlands Airport to Ibiza on Friday 24 July when the incident occurred.

Jet2 staff said the men were being rude towards airport security staff, deliberately shoving fellow passengers, and threatening airline employees.

They were stopped at the departure gate, and police escorted them back through the airport, where no further action was taken.

However, the pair were banned from flying with Jet2 for six months.

According to the Leicester Mercury, Jet2 managing director Phil Ward said: "We are a leisure airline and we simply won't stand for such rude and disrespectful behaviour.

"Many passengers on the flight were families travelling with young children, so there was no way we were going to expose them to this aggressive and abusive pair.

"Their attitude was completely unnecessary. Ultimately, they ruined their holiday because of how they acted.

"We are determined to take a proactive stance on behalf of the industry, our loyal customers and staff. We want holidaymakers to know that we are a family friendly airline that will not tolerate yobbish behaviour."

The pair categorically deny any wrongdoing and said the ground steward picked on them for no reason, and singled them out like a "headteacher".

Speaking to the Birmingham Mail, Joseph, from Bromsgrove, said: "They said we were escorted out by police but that never happened.

"We did speak to a policeman outside the airport who agreed that we had been dealt with unfairly and took it upon himself to go back inside and make our case.

"I have his badge number and name.

"We dispute what Jet 2 have said 100 per cent and have asked for CCTV, which they have denied us."

The pair flew to Ibiza two days later on a Ryanair flight.

Joseph is now planning legal action over the extra costs of the missed flight and damage to his reputation.
