The Duke of York inherited the Queen Mother's mansion in 2002 and spent £7.5 million on renovations, including installing a pool and a driving range.
The former couple have remained good friend since their 10-year marriage ended in 1996, and Sarah once admitted she would be "homeless" if it wasn't for her ex-husband.
But she is now moving on. According to the Daily Telegraph, her spokesman confirmed the move, saying: "She has a lot of international business commitments and has moved on considerably.
"So this is really showing she is becoming a more independent unit."
The luxury ski chalet in Switzerland is co-owned by the divorced couple, who bought it together on a joint mortgage as a family investment earlier this year, reports the Express.
It boasts an indoor swimming pool and an in-house staff of six.
Verbier is a village located in south-western Switzerland in the canton of Valais.
It is a holiday resort and ski area in the Swiss Alps and is recognised as one of the top "off-piste" resorts in the world.
As well as Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew, the Beckhams, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jamie Oliver, and Jude Law are known to ski there.
Singer James Blunt also owns a chalet there, while Richard Branson's Verbier Lodge was included in Forbes' list of 'places where you can vacation like a billionaire', according to the Daily Mail.
