Both Aberdeen and the London borough of Lambeth are taking part in a Europe-wide initiative called European Mobility Week by announcing "car-free days" in September.

With more than 300 European cities and towns taking part, the European Mobility Week is part of a push towards lower emissions in cities and towns. It is also being used to promote the use of greener forms of public transport.
