Nick and Ben Urso have made history by becoming the first father and son duo to win $100,000 in the same Conneticut lottery game.

Both won on the $100,000 Cashword scratchcard. The crossword puzzle-style game costs $10 per ticket.

Each morning for the past few years, 62-year-old Nick Urso has bought the scratchcard at the same convenience store. But one day last week he was on his way to play golf when he realised he had forgotten something. He stopped at a different convenience store nearby to pick it up and decided to grab a scratchcard too.

At that store in Bristol, Conneticut, Urso bought two of the $10 cards and the rest is history.

He says: "I put it in my sun visor and the next day I scratched it off and couldn't believe it!"

Nick's 35-year-old son, Ben, says he was "pretty shocked" when he heard the news, which isn't surprising given that he'd won $100,000 in the same competition in March this year.

Ben says: "I had just recently gotten laid off from work and I stopped in the store and bought a ticket and I went home and I was scratching it and I couldn't believe it!"

Ben works in construction and has been saving for a downpayment on a house, but says he might spend some of the money on a trip to Disney too.

His father doesn't have a plan for his money yet but he did say if they win another ticket it will be going to his daughter who is the last member of the family not to have won!
