Penguins are possibly the most popular birds in the world and there are around 20 species currently living on earth.

These birds definitely can't fly, but we're pretty sure they should be able to swim! This cheeky penguin goes against that rule however.

Normally young penguins learn to swim by following the example set by their parents, but not all are lucky enough.

Charlotte the king penguin lives at Birdland Park and Gardens in Gloucestershire and was reared by zoo keepers.

So, it was up to them to don wetsuits and snorkel gear to help the small bird learn to swim. But it wasn't as easy as you may think.

The stubborn young penguin was apparently not keen on the water at all and even when head keeper Alistair Kean managed to get her into the water she kicked up a huge fuss.

But, thankfully Charlotte finally got the hang of it and lucky zoo visitors can see the happy penguin dipping in and out of the water on a daily basis.
