A former animator on The Simpsons has left a brilliant sketch in a Belize holiday resort's guestbook.

Alex Ruiz, who worked as an assistant director on the hit show, drew a picture of Homer and Marge having a blast and drinking cocktails on a beach, with the caption: "We love Thatch Caye."

Alex's girlfriend shared the sketch on Reddit under the user name Kid Cadaver, and wrote: "When you're a former Simpsons animator and you go on vacation, you always leave a doodle in the guestbook."

Thatch Caye is a luxury eco resort and private island in Belize, located nine miles off the coast.

Chatting to other Reddit users about their stay, Alex's girlfriend also wrote: "Yup, AlexRuiz drew this in the guestbook at Thatch Caye a few days ago. We paddleboarded around Coco Plum and wondered what a stay there might be like :) What a beautiful little area of Belize!

"It's still under construction, but even with all the construction going on it was an absolutely wonderful stay. The staff was just incredible, the accommodations were very comfortable, and we really, really enjoyed our time there. We look forward to going back once renovations are complete!

She added: "When you purchase a package, they take care of everything with you to make sure you don't forget anything or get stranded anywhere. They also provide you with a list of fun adventures and things you can do both on the island and on the mainland. I really, really recommend it! There are other resorts along all of those cayes, and I HIGHLY recommend Belize!"

Thatch Caye is situated along the Belize Barrier Reef, and offers wonderful scuba diving and snorkelling.

All the rooms sit along the water's edge, and, its website says, you can, "Escape to your private retreat and feel the breezes from your gently swaying hammock".

Oh, go on then...
