Drone footage reveals stunning oasis in Peru (video)
Thought oases were only found in cartoons when one poor character is gasping for a drink? Not true! They're very real and incredibly beautiful it turns out.
Take a look at this stunning drone footage, which uncovers one of the most spectacular places on the Peruvian coast.
The Huacachina Lagoon is an oasis located five kilometres west of the Peruvian city of Ica, in the middle of the coastal desert of the Pacific.

The emerald green waters have risen due to the up-welling of underground streams, with an abundance of vegetation that serves the migratory birds that pass through the region.
The drone footage shows the Peruvian oasis in all its glory as the camera pans over the rolling dunes of golden sand.
As it closes in on the green water, small boats can be seen bobbing along in the water while buildings and palm trees surround the water.
According to National Geographic, underground aquifers supply most oases and they can vary in size massively.
Another famous oasis is the Seba Oasis which can be found in the middle of the Sahara Desert. As well as being the largest desert on earth, the Sahara is home to some of the world's largest supplies of underground water.
