Revealed: the country with the best reputation

Hows does your country's reputation stack up against the rest of the world?

Reputation Institute ranked the reputations of 55 countries and the one to come out on top was Canada.

The country scored highly thanks to its low incidents of government corruption, safety for travellers and people who live there, high level of welfare for residents and the friendly and polite Canadian locals.

It was predominantly European countries that made up the rest of the top ten, which were: Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Australia, Finland, New Zealand, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Belgium.

The United States hit the list at number 22 and Iraq came in last place.

But even though the rest of the world seems to think Canada is great, Canadians themselves seem less certain - the country only came in at third place on the self-image category.

Canada is the world's second largest country covering an area of nearly 10 million square kilometres.

Known for it's striking mountain ranges, cool climate and fascinating wildlife, perhaps it's no surprise that it's the country with the best reputation.

It was also revealed in April this year that Canada made it into the top five happiest countries in the world, only being beaten by European rivals Switzerland, Iceland, Denmark and Norway.
