Best water parks around the world

Water parks have moved on a lot in recent years. No longer places to park the kids under the watchfull eye of a lifeguard, these days they're getting bigger and better and more thrilling by the minute.

So where to start? We've put together a little slideshow of our favourite water parks around the world for your perusal. Take the wonderful Aquaventure at Atlantis the Palm in Dubai, which has got to be one of the most over the top water parks in the world. Famous not least for its Tower of Neptune slide that catapults you down a vertical drop slide into the incredible Shark Lagoon, this place is not for the fainthearted (and if that's not exciting enough, the water park also offers you the chance to swim with dolphins and sea lions).

The Kamikaze slide at Fasouri Watermania in Cyprus is also pretty terrifying - you can reach speeds of 50km/h on the Kamikaze slide before you head off to the largest wave pool in Europe to relax.
