The largest Hello Kitty theme park in the world opened its doors in Anji County, Zhejiang Province, China on 1 July.

This footage shows an aerial view of the park, which includes a giant ferris wheel bearing the face of the famous cat. According to DNA, it cost £210 million to build the 9.5 hectare park.

The opening of the theme park coincides with the 40th anniversary of the cartoon character, which was created by Yuko Shimizu and is produced by Japanese company Sanrio.

According to local reports, the park's owners are expecting more than one million visitors to the park per year.

The park will be hosting parades every Friday and Saturday evening, not dissimilar to the Disney theme parks where the iconic characters are seen out and about daily as well.

The park is a flourish of colour with pastel pinks and blues seen throughout, alongside plenty of other bright and vibrant attractions.

The Hello Kitty brand is also currently planning for the cartoon cat to make its way on to the big screen. A film adaptation of the popular cartoon is expected to hit cinemas in 2019.

Liu Fudao, general manager of the park's operator Zhejiang Yinrun Angle Park Management Company, told Winshang.com: "Disneyland is big and comprehensive. Our Hello Kitty Theme Park is small and selective. They have different strengths as well as a shared goal, which is to bring people happiness."
