Policemen caught having a snooze
Two police officers have been left red faced after being photographed asleep in their patrol car.
The Scottish Daily Record reports that two officers, who were dressed in full Police Scotland uniforms, were discovered by a passing pedestrian in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The driver was seen reclining with his head slumped back, while his passenger had his head resting against the passenger side window.
The witness, a local labourer who did not wish to be identified, claimed to walk past the marked police car at around 7am on Scapa Street in the Maryhill area of Glasgow.
He was able to walk around the vehicle, peer inside and even take photos without disturbing the two sleeping policemen.
Speaking to the Daily Record, he said: "I was walking along the pavement on the way to work and as I walked past the parked police car, I saw that the two policemen were asleep.
"At first, I was quite shocked as they were parked up in a street, in their police car and their badges were visible through the windows.
"I walked up to the car and took three pictures of them sleeping soundly and they were sleeping so soundly they didn't even stir.
"Police officers are usually fast enough to act when it suits them so I really don't think they should be allowed to sleep whilst on duty."
Police Scotland has confirmed that it is looking into the incident. Chief superintendent Andy Bates said: "Police Scotland will robustly investigate the circumstances surrounding the information given to us.
"As this is now an internal investigation it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage."
