Thai-English actress Anna Reese has been charged with reckless driving causing death and fleeing the scene of an accident after crashing into a parked police car and killing a policeman in Thailand.

Reese, 28, was driving her Mercedes-Benz Sedan when she collided with the parked police car.

The policeman, who was asleep inside, died.

According to the Bangkok Post, Reese said she was not driving under the influence of alcohol.

She claims a motorbike cut in front of her car, causing her to lose control and crash into the police car.

Reese, who has appeared in films The Tsunami Warrior and Brown Sugar 2, said she contacted relatives who arrived on the scene and took her to the hospital as she injured her arm, International Business Times reports.

She added that she contacted police after her arm was treated.

"I feel sorry for what happened and am willing to help the family of the victim," she said. "Once the case has been finalised I want to go into meditation to calm my mind."

Initial tests revealed no trace of illegal drugs in her body. Police said results for alcohol in her blood would be known in seven days.
