Cancun, Mexico

From June, turtles flock to the beaches of Mexico to make their nests in the beautiful white sands and lay their eggs. From September, as the sand starts to cool, hundreds of baby turtles emerge from the nests laid in the summer. They make their way to the Caribbean Sea and use the light reflecting from the sea as their guide. Those that reach maturity and make it out to the immense ocean may live to age 80 in the wild. Conservation of these creatures is very important and most hotels provide guided walks to see the spectacle in September - an unforgettable experience. Virgin Holidays offers seven-night all-inclusive holidays to Cancun with accommodation at the Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort, flights from Gatwick and transfers from £1,055 per person.
