The most romantic resort in the Indian Ocean (and possibly the world)

Updated

The Baros Resort in the Maldives has been named the Indian Ocean's Most Romantic Resort for the third year running.

The World Travel Awards singled out this stunning private resort as the very best in the region.

The resort will be put up against other resorts in the Middle East, Africa & the Indian Ocean, South & Central America, North America & the Caribbean, Asia & Australasia and Europe for the top award.

The beautiful accommodation was named World's Most Romantic Resort in 2013 and was also mentioned in the World's Top Hotels last year.

Baros Maldives boasts 45 beachside villas and 30 water villas, all of which have direct access to the breathtaking lagoon by the beach (some even have private pools).

The Maldives archipelago is made up of over 1,000 coral islands, only 200 of which are inhabited, while another 100 have been turned into tourist resorts.

The two other resorts nominated in the category were the Hilton Seychelles Northolme Resort & Spa in the Seychelles and the Taj Exotica Resort & Spa which is also in the Maldives.
