Tropical storm Bill has caused rivers in the area to swell with devastating consequences in parts of the US.

Jeremy Carter, a local from Dickson, Oklahoma, was cruising over the flood ravaged Washita River when he stumbled upon an unusual animal struggling to keep his head above water.

The heavy floods swept up a poor little armadillo, who wa barely managing to paddle fast enough against the rushing current and surely running out of hope.

Amid the laughter of his friends, Jeremy reaches into the water and scoops up the little armadillo into the boat with one hand.

Luckily for the little armadillo, he made it back to shore safe and sound as the men dropped him off on dry land, calling: "Have a fun life little armadillo!"

The floods have caused widespread problems in the area. One person died after attempting to drive through the flood waters while a two-year-old boy was swept from his father's arms in the water.
