I actually cannot believe what I have just seen in tesco!! People waiting for the reduced food to be brought out, fair enough. But the staff have to tell them to wait and stay back like you would a dog while your preparing its dinner, then have to be told to let the staff out so they don't get crushed when every one piles in....literally, how there was not a fight is beyond me. I'm actually lost for words that this can happen like that in a supermarket and is let to happen nightly.....you have to watch the video to believe it.......

A shocking video has been posted on Facebook showing a group of Tesco shoppers descending on trays of cut-price meat in a frenzy.

Northampton shopper Johnny Lester, 32, was in the Tesco Extra store in Weston Favell shopping centre on Monday night at about 7pm when he saw a group of people crowding around the meat counter.

Ignoring a staff member shouting at them to wait, the shoppers quickly move to grab the food, trapping staff members in the scrum.

"Move back! Move back now, otherwise I'm taking them away!" shouts the staff member. "Let the staff out!"

When the workers escape, a voice is heard shouting "Go!" - and the feeding frenzy begins, with customers pushing and shoving one another in the rush.

One onlooker has sympathy. "I am sending this to your head office, because they are disgusting," she tells a staff member. "Do you know, your company should give it [the cheap meat] to you because you staff members work hard."

The video has now been viewed over two million times.

"I actually cannot believe what I have just seen in Tesco!! People waiting for the reduced food to be brought out, fair enough," Mr Lester writes.

"But the staff have to tell them to wait and stay back like you would a dog while your preparing its dinner, then have to be told to let the staff out so they don't get crushed when every one piles in....literally, how there was not a fight is beyond me."

We're starting to get used to such scenes in the US, particularly during the Black Friday sales; and Apple stores brace themselves for a scrum every time a new product is launched. However, such a scrum over something so cheap is unusual.

Late last year, though, there was a similar fight over Frozen merchandise at the opening of a Poundworld store in Merthyr Tydfil in South Wales.

Tesco has said that the store manager is investigating the incident and will take steps to make sure it doesn't happen again in future, perhaps by making better reductions earlier in the day to make things less fraught in the evening.
