Zoo animals roam the streets of Georgia's capital city after flooding
Residents of Georgia's capital have been warned to stay indoors after heavy flooding in Tbilisi destroyed the city's zoo enclosures, leaving tigers, lions, bears and hippos roaming the streets.
Some animals have been captured or killed as the search for others continues.
ITV News reports that three zoo workers have died but the cause of their death is unclear.
On Sunday morning, an escaped hippo was captured and tranquilised in one of Tbilisi's main squares.
Eight people have died as a result of the extreme weather in the city and rescue workers are searching flooded homes for trapped residents, the BBC reports.
Many have been left homeless and helicopters are circling the city to search for missing people.
"Dozens of families remain homeless as their houses were destroyed or damaged in the capital. They are some victims," vice mayor of Tbilisi Irakly Lekvinadze told Reuters.
In April, three zebras escaped from a ranch in Belgium and were filmed running through the streets of Brussels.
The animals were seen making their way through the city as police try to round them up.
They used the Van Praet tunnel and casually strolled along the canal in Brussels.
After being chased through the city, they were soon cornered and captured.
Bernard Luyckx, a friend of the zebras' owner, said they were apparently upset by the sale of their stable-mates.
