Ethan mother surrenders to police

A mother who went on the run with her three-year-old son after a court ruled he should live with his father has handed herself into police, it has been reported.

Rebecca Minnock, 35, surrended after 17 days in hiding with her son Ethan, the Daily Mail said.

According to the newspaper, she said: "I feel that my time has run out now."

Earlier, Minnock's mother and a close family friend were jailed for lying about a what a judge called a "wicked" plot to help her go into hiding with Ethan to generate publicity for a bitter custody battle.

Louise Minnock, jailed for 10 days, and her partner, Andrew Butt, who received a 28-day sentence, were found to be in contempt of court by lying about the circumstances of her disappearance.

Before they were taken to prison, Butt appealed to the runaway to turn herself in, accepting the case had become "too big".
