Video: James May puts car reviewing hat back on for Ferrari test
James May's Top Gear TV days may be over, but the presenter is still appearing in front of the camera – and driving suitably exotic machinery – with him now trying out the latest car to emerge from the Ferrari stable.
In this Sunday Times video, the ex-TG presenter gets behind the wheel of the new Ferrari 488 GTB, a vehicle that takes over from the 458 Italia in Ferrari forecourts, but offers something different to its predecessor – a turbocharger.
Ferrari purists may bemoan the addition of a turbocharger, which erodes the typical Ferrari high-revving fury, in the name of power and efficiency, but it's not just the engine that's new, with the 488 GTB boasting a new design and suspension among other changes.
An extra 100bhp means that this new car is no slouch, though the new motor does now look like a coffee machine according to Mr May. Check out May's conclusion – and see whether you should be saving up the £184,000 needed to put a 488 GTB on the drive – in the video below.
