Diet tricks every woman should know
As well as eating the right foods to help keep you slim, it's also important how you eat them.
For example, if you've made a nice gravy to go with your meat or fish, you can make it healthier by skimming off the fat.
You can do this using a spoon, but one neat trick involves ice cubes. If you throw in some ice cubes into a gravy that's simmering away in the pan, fats on the surface coagulate around them, making it far easier to see and then remove them.
One rule you can give yourself is make at least a quarter of every meal you eat vegetables. They are filling but are virtually fat free.
Embrace vinegar, it's not just for your chips! There are so many on the market from red and white wine varieties to balsamic. As well as giving your food a fresh zing, vinegar also reduces glucose levels and fat storage.
Another tip is to make eggs an essential part of your diet. One egg is only roughly 70 calories and they are loaded with high-quality proteins, vitamins, minerals, good fats and various trace nutrients.
But frying eggs can increase their fat content by around 50%. So try poached or scrambled without butter.
If you're drinking with your meal, try to steer clear of wine which contains a lot of calories. Try carbonated water instead. The fizz tricks your body into feeling fuller than ordinary tap water.
One final tip: use smaller plates.
