UK weather: Heatwave as temperatures to hit 28C next week!

Britain is set to bask in a mini heatwave next week - with temperatures reaching a very balmy 28C.

The unsettled weather is predicted to continue into early next week, but then by Wednesday things are warming up, giving a lovely start to June.

Summer officially starts on 1 June, and, while the first two days will be a bit grim, the end of the week will see weather to rival many Mediterranean holiday resorts.

Met Office forecaster Marco Petagna told the Daily Mail: "Monday and Tuesday will be cool and often wet and windy.

"But then the high pressure starts to build across the UK and and it certainly becomes very warm and locally hot in the south."

According to the Mirror and the Standard, he added: "Wednesday is the transition day from the unsettled to the better weather with temperatures reaching around 20C (68F) in the South.

"Friday into the weekend will see a much bigger increase with strong sunshine. Certainly is it good weather for getting out and about."

Leon Brown, meteorologist at The Weather Channel, agreed, telling Aol Travel: "We will have to put up with more wet and cool weather for the next few days, then a change in the pattern to warmer, drier and settled weather from the middle of next week over the south, spreading northwards later next week.

"It will be warmer and brighter over the south from Wednesday, and temperatures will be hit the mid 20s in the south by the end of next week."
