Body found in suitcase near US airport
A man's body has been found stuffed inside a suitcase near Philadelphia airport.
Police are treating the death of Scott Stephen Bernheisel as murder after the Medical Examiner's Office said a stab wound to the neck and multiple blunt-force injuries killed him.
According to Philly.com, Bernheisel's remains were found by a man walking his dog in the Tinicum Township.
Delaware County District Attorney spokeswoman Emily Harris told the NY Daily News that the man's body was "badly decomposed" and he had likely been dead for three to five days.
Bernheisel had a history of drug arrests, according to court records. In 2014, he pleaded guilty to possession, and in 2013 he pleaded guilty to a count of manufacturing, delivery, or possession.
The investigation is being carried out jointly by the Tinicum Township Police Department, the District Attorney's Criminal Investigation Division and the Medical Examiner's office.
