Magaluf bans falling down drunk, sex parties and defecating in the street
Spanish party town Magaluf has brought in new rules to clean up its drunken image.
Tourists have been told to cover up in the streets and anyone caught spitting, urinating or defecating in the streets face harsh fines.
According to The Local, the new rules come into place from June 9th when the 'balconing' craze, which sees people jump from their balconies into swimming pools, will be banned. Those caught will be fined up to 1,500 euros.
Police will also have the power to stop groups drinking in the streets between 10pm and 8am, and the sale and distribution of alcohol will be banned after midnight, the Daily Mail reports.
Joan Feliu, the head of Commerce and Activities at the town hall, said: "We mostly hope to raise awareness and give information.
"What happens next will depend on the results."
The main focus is on the Punta Ballena strip, which attracts groups on bar crawls.
Organisers will no longer be allowed to promote pub crawls, which encourage excessive drinking and sex games, following a video which emerged last year of an 18-year-old British girl performing oral sex on 24 men.
The town hall said: "The common aim here is reaching agreements that give maximum guarantees over the security and quality of services tourists to Magaluf receive, to improve Magaluf's image as a tourist destination in national and international markets."
