How rail services will be affected by Network Rail strike

With a Network Rail workers' strike threatened, these are the services that train companies expect to run on Monday and Tuesday.

:: Virgin West Coast - No services on Monday or Tuesday

:: Virgin East Coast - Monday services will run until early afternoon, with the exception of routes in Scotland beyond Edinburgh, where there will be no services to and from Aberdeen, Glasgow and Inverness.

On Tuesday a limited number of trains will run on London-Leeds and London-York-Newcastle routes only

:: Gatwick Express - There will be only an extremely limited service on Monday and no service on Tuesday

:: Heathrow Express - A regular service is planned for Monday and Tuesday but services could start later and finish earlier than usual

:: Heathrow Connect - The stopping service between London Paddington and Heathrow will not run on Monday or Tuesday

:: Southeastern - The company is advising passengers not to travel if the strike goes ahead. Southern will only have 14% of stations open on Tuesday and only a fifth of the network will see any service. Trains will only run between 7am and 7pm on Monday and between 9am and 5pm on Tuesday.

Services are also likely to be affected on Wednesday

:: Chiltern - Trains on Monday will start much later and finish much earlier than usual. Some routes will not be operated and trains will not call at some stations. Trains serving Wembley Stadium, where the Middlesbrough-Norwich City play-off final kicks off at 3pm, will not operate

On Tuesday, services will again start much later and finish much earlier than usual. No trains will leave London Marylebone between 5pm and just after 7pm. Passengers are warned not to arrive at Marylebone during this period.

Services could be disrupted on Wednesday

:: London Midland - Very few trains will run and travel will be very difficult on Monday and Tuesday, with no services on most of its network.

There will be a very restricted service on the following lines: Coventry to Wolverhampton via Birmingham New Street, Kidderminster to Dorridge via Birmingham Snow Hill, Kidderminster to Stratford-upon-Avon via Shirley and Birmingham Snow Hill, Stourbridge Town to Stourbridge Junction, Coventry to Nuneaton, and Bletchley to Bedford (Tuesday only)

:: First Great Western - No services will run on Monday and Tuesday on the following routes - North Cotswolds line, from Oxford and calling at Worcester and Hereford, or services between Didcot and Oxford; beyond Plymouth to Penzance and on Devon and Cornwall branch line services; Reading to Gatwick Airport and Reading to Basingstoke; between Swindon and Gloucester/Cheltenham; between Bath Spa and Portsmouth Harbour; between Reading and Taunton; the Henley-on-Thames and Greenford branch lines; the Severn Beach branch line.

Some services will operate on other lines.

:: Abellio Greater Anglia - No services after midday on Monday. On Tuesday there will only be an extremely limited, skeleton service between London and Norwich, London and Colchester, London and Shenfield and London and Stansted Airport in the middle of the day.

On Wednesday, services will start operating on all routes from 6am but there will be service disruptions and alterations

:: Arriva Trains Wales - Passengers are being advised not to travel unless it is absolutely necessary. On Monday a number of routes will not operate and there will be many cancellations, with services that do run being extremely busy. There will be no services after 5pm.

On Tuesday only a very few services will run. There are planned services running from around 7.30am and then running down from approximately 2.30pm between Rhymney- Cardiff Bay, Bargoed-Cardiff Bay, Cardiff-Severn Tunnel Junction and Crewe-Manchester.

Services could be disrupted on Wednesday morning.

:: ScotRail - Many routes will not operate. The following services will run on Monday only: Glasgow Central-Paisley Gilmour Street; Glasgow Central-Newton via Maxwell Park; Glasgow Central-Neilston via Queens Park.

The following services will be running on both Monday and Tuesday, with limited timetables: Edinburgh-Glasgow via Falkirk High; Edinburgh-Kirkcaldy-Glenrothes; Edinburgh-Cowdenbeath-Glenrothes; Glasgow Central-East Kilbride; Glasgow Queen St (High Level)- Anniesland; Glasgow Queen St (High Level)-Cumbernauld.

:: Thameslink and Great Norther n- Only a very limited services to key stations will be possible if the strike goes ahead. Trains will run from around 7.30am until only mid-afternoon on both Monday and Tuesday and there may be severe disruption all day on Wednesday as well.

:: East Midlands Trains - Severe disruption on Monday and Tuesday if strike happens. Some services will not operate and trains will start running later than usual on Monday and Tuesday mornings and finish earlier on each evening.

:: Northern Rail - A number of routes will not operate on Monday and there will only be a very limited service on Tuesday in the event of a strike. On Tuesday only these routes will operate, from 7.30am to 6.30pm: Sheffield-Doncaster; Sheffield-Chesterfield; Crewe-Manchester via Manchester Airport (diesel trains only), and Manchester-Liverpool via Earlestown (diesel trains only).

:: Merseyrail - Services will stop at approximately 6pm on Monday and there will be no trains on Tuesday. There may be timetable changes on Wednesday.

:: South West Trains - Passengers are advised not to travel unless absolutely necessary as there will be a severely reduced service from early afternoon on Monday, with all trains stopped by late afternoon. There will be no services on Tuesday.
