British woman dies after falling off cruise ship in Dubrovnik
A British woman is reported to have died after falling off a small cruise ship in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
The 64-year-old woman was reportedly having a drink with her husband and friends on a deck when she fell.
According to the Daily Mail, the incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning while the tourist boat, called The Emanual, was moored in the port of Gruz.
Emergency services and medics were quickly on the scene after crew members jumped in and pulled the woman to shore, but she could not be saved.
According to Cruise Hive, The Emanuel was built in 2006 and sails at least week-long itineraries along the Croatian coast.
It can accommodate 36 guests in 18 cabins all with sea views. It features a restaurant, lounge bar, sun deck, and a library.
Gruz is a neighbourhood in Dubrovnik, about 2km northwest of the Old City, with a population of approximately 15,000 people.
The main port for Dubrovnik is in Gruz as well as its largest market and the main bus station "Libertas".
While historically a manufacturing and industrial base for Dubrovnik, today it is one of the city's main residential areas along with Lapad and Mokošica.
