Two people killed by buses in separate crashes in west London

Two people have died in separate bus crashes in Ealing and Shepherd's Bush.

According to the BBC, a 44-year-old man was hit in Uxbridge Road outside Ealing Hospital in Southall on Tuesday. He was declared dead at the scene as 9.26pm.

Over in Shepherd's Bush, on Westfield Way, a 50-year-old woman was hit by a different bus at 7.24am She also died at the scene.

The woman was hit in the Shepherd's Bush bus station during rush hour, not far from the Westfield shopping centre.

Met police have been investigating the scene at Westfield Way, where a female bus driver has spoken to police but has not been arrested.

Speaking to the Evening Standard, a newspaper vendor said: "I could see this woman was under the bus, it didn't look like she was moving - you could just see her legs coming out from underneath it and her shoes were behind the bus.

"The paramedics looked like they tried to revive her, but soon afterwards the police brought the forensic tent and put it over the body. The driver got out and tried to help the woman, she [the driver] at first seemed puzzled and then started crying loudly."

Images of the scene have been uploaded on Twitter.

TfL's director of buses, Mike Weston offered his condolences to family and friends of the woman that died, and promised: "There will be a full investigation into the incident."
